Indiana’s newest addition to the class of 2025 knew Indiana “just felt right” when he was in Bloomington for a Junior Day visit. Garrett Reese took a look behind the scenes and loved what he saw.
“When I first arrived to the facility the first person I saw as I walked in was Coach Adams and then Coach Cignetti. We walked around the facility, met with the training staff, academic advisors and current players. They really pulled the curtain back so we could see and ask all the questions. It just felt right, they checked a lot of boxes for me.” Reese told Hoosier Huddle.
With a new staff heading up the football program, the culture is changing in Bloomington. For Reese, that change really stood out to him.
“There is a lot of excitement with the football program. Coach (Cignetti) talked about is approach to creating a winning culture at IU. It’s was electric! I want to be part of the change that is coming. I can’t wait to come back.” Reese explained.
Ola Adams, Indiana’s saefties coach, is likely to be Reese’s position coach when he arrives in 2025. However, they started their relationship early.
“Coach Adams was really cool and I felt like he answering all my questions straight up. We got to watch film and that gave me a insight on what they see and need from me to help them win games. Coach Adams continued to follow up with me after the visit and I felt like I was a priority to him.” Reese explained.
There are still many months to go and a senior season to be played for Reese before he is officially a Hoosier. There is work to be done.
Reese wants to “focus on my training and prep for next season. Getting stronger, faster through my off season workouts. Senior year will be huge for me to get all I can out of it before I make the transition to college. Hard work and dedication has gotten me here, that won’t stop! I work with my DB and speed coaches at least 3 times a week.”
As an Illinois native, playing at a midwest Power Four team is a dream come true for Reese.
