In-State Tight End Kurt Rafdal De-Commits From Hoosiers Amid Staff Changes

When a football program undergoes the changes that Indiana has it is usually followed by some changes in recruiting and commitments from high school prospects. Late Wednesday night Steve Wiltfong of 247 Sports reported that three-start tight end recruit had de-committed from Indiana University.

In an interview with Wiltfong Rafdal said, "at this time with all the changes there I think the best course of action is to open my recruiting.” The 6-foot-7 tight end also said he "really enjoyed the process with (Indiana)". Rafdal was recruited to Indiana by the recently departed tight end's coach James Patton. He committed to the Hoosiers on Oct. 13. The Carmel H.S. standout will take an official visit to Nebraska on January 13th after the new recruiting period opens.

While losing a 6-foot-7 frame at tight end is not ideal the Hoosiers have several other tight ends committed in the 2017 class, including Peyton Henderhot and Michael Ziemba. IU also returners starting tight end Danny Friend as well as key reserves Austin Dorris, Ian Thomas and Shaun Bonner who redshirted in 2016. Indiana's 2017 class now sits at 17 commitments and is ranked 13th in the Big Ten and 61st in the nation.
