Hoosiers Pick Up Commitment From 3-Star Safety Amare Ferrell

High school players have made their way to Bloomington for official visits over the last few weeks and the Hoosiers have landed their first commitment of that group in safety Amare Ferrell. Ferrell is a top-500 prospect out of Columbia High School in Lake City, Florida. He is list at 6’1.5” and 192 pounds.
Ferrell made his announcement of Twitter late Sunday night. He choose Indiana over offers from Arizona, Cincinnati, Florida State, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami (FL), Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee and UCF among others.
Ferrell is listed as a three-star prospect by 247 Sports Composite rankings (4-star by Rivals.com) and is ranked as the 437th best player in the nation. According to his HUDL page, Ferrell runs a 4.6 40-yard dash. Ferrell will play safety at IU, but player a lot of corner in high school, an attribute that head coach Tom Allen loves in his defensive backs. Ferrell is IU’s fourth commitment in the 2023 class which sits 68th nationally in 247Sports’ rankings.
