2022 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 68 Days (Phillip Dunnam)

Written by Matt Smith

Welcome to the 2022 edition of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown! We are now officially underway as we countdown from 100 to the beginning of the 2022 Indiana University football season. Each day, we will take a look at one (or two) players on the current roster and highlight the players' role in the upcoming season. Number 68 on the list is incoming freshman Phillip Dunnam.

Name: Phillip Dunnam

Hometown: Miami, FL

Position: DB

Year: Freshman

Height/Weight: 6’1’’/ 180 lbs

Twitter: (@DunnamPhillip)

The number 40 ranked safety nationally by ESPN, comes into the Hoosiers roster with some much needed depth in the defensive backs room. Dunnam will battle for some playing time during training camp. However, with Tiawan Mullen, Noah Pierre, and Devon Matthews returning, Dunnam will most likely have to learn behind the veterans before he sees the field.

However, Dunnam is an extremely athletic DB, who played both sides of the ball during his high school career at wide receiver as well as DB. Football runs in the blood for the Dunnam family as his cousins E.J Biggers and Louis Delmas both played DB in the NFL.

Dunnam was All-county in Miami and was also the teams primary return man during the season. The Hoosiers will look to have Dunnam in a plethora of positions and use his athleticism to their advantage during the season.
