Hoosiers Continue Big Portal Day With Addition of WR Makai Jackson

Usually people do not get to open gifts until Christmas morning, however Indiana fans are celebrating on Christmas Eve as the Hoosiers have had quite the portal haul on Tuesday. Just shortly after getting a commitment from quarterback Fernando Mendoza, the Hoosiers got a weapon for him in wide receiver Makai Jackson from Appalachian State.

Jackson played the 2023 and 2024 seasons at App State where he put up really solid numbers. In total he made 73 catches for 1,163 yard and seven touchdowns. Prior to playing for the Mountaineers, Jackson was a standout at St. Francis (PA), the same school Elijah Sarratt began his college career. At St. Francis, Jackson had 85 catches for 991 yards with nine touchdowns in 12 games as a college newcomer at Saint Francis in Pennsylvania, contributing to HERO Sports Freshman All-America in 2022.

The Hoosiers need to rebuild their wide receiver room after a senior laden group helped IU to an 11-win season in 2024. Jackson will battle for a starting spot in 2025, but as we saw in 2024, catches can come from anyone in the IU offense.
