The Indiana Hoosiers received their second commitment from a former JMU Duke on Saturday evening when former FCS All-American kick returner Solomon Vanhorse.

Vanhorse played five seasons with the Dukes and the beginning of his career he looked like he could be a game changer on offense and special teams before injuries limited him to just four games over the last two seasons.

The 5’8” 183-pound running back had his best season in 2021 when he had 489 kick return yards, 338 yards receiving and 117 yards rushing. He scored seven total touchdowns and was an FCS All-American as a sophomore. Vanhorse is also an excellent student off the field, garnering multiple honors at JMU.

Injuires derailed the last two seasons for Vanhorse, who will be taking a step up from the Sun Belt to the Big Ten, but the potential is there. While his size on paper may scare some people, if he is a return specialist that should not make much of a difference as smaller players have excelled in the return game.
