Elijah Sarratt has really stood out in the Hoosier’s offense this season, especially last week against Western Illinois where he logged 6 receptions, 137 yards and a touchdown (off of a 71-yard play). The Hoosiers are facing their first Big Ten opponent of the season and for Sarratt, it’ll be his first Big Ten game ever and he appreciates the opportunity to play in this historic venue.

“We’re there to go handle business, but you know, you always got to appreciate the moments that you’re in. I try to do that every single day because I don’t know the next time I’m going to be in the Rose Bowl stage. So I’m just trying to take in the moments and enjoy it while I can.” Sarratt responded when asked about his excitement for the game.

Sarratt displayed how thrilled he is to play against UCLA throughout his interview Tuesday. Even with his excitement, Sarratt also exhibited his gratitude for having an opportunity to play football for a team like IU during his astounding collegiate career.

“It’s a blessing. There was a time where I lost all my offers, so to be here right now, all I can do is thank God.” Sarratt replied on how it felt coming from the Sunbelt conference to playing a game streamed on NBC.

Sarratt and the rest of Indiana’s football team are fired up to start conference play this Saturday. While it is hard to suppress that excitement, Cignetti and the Hoosiers are handling it just as any other game and will treat the game as strictly a business trip.

“Just keep the main thing, the main thing. Eliminate the clutter. Just go out there and handle business. Take it one play at a time… Keep things the same. I’m not treating this game like any special type of game. It’s a regular game.” Sarratt stated in his interview Tuesday.

Cignetti has harped all season about keeping things strictly business. He has instilled a winning mindset into the players but also wants them to have a business mentality and not get too ahead of themselves.

The Hoosiers are using every day to better themselves and their play. Sarratt especially tries to work on his route running artistry so that he can continue to help Indiana’s offense move down the field effectively and score touchdowns. Even though fans and players are excited for the game this weekend, the Hoosiers hope to get it done and put on a show for the fans while also delivering a message to the rest of the Big Ten that they are a team that should be taken seriously.
