Edge Commit William Depaepe Wants to be Part of Something Special at IU

Indiana commitment William Depaepe has felt what most of Hoosier Nation has felt with new head coach Curt Cignetti and that’s energy and excitement. Depaepe is a 6’7” edge rusher who IU hopes can develop into a menace for opposing quarterbacks. Cignetti and his staff watched the film and loved what they saw.

“You know they saw my film and loved what they saw and they immediately wanted me down there on a visit.” Depaepe told Hoosier Huddle.

Depaepe is a three-star prospect out of Moline, Illinois and recent took his visit to IU and enjoyed his time, especially visiting Assembly Hall.

“It was awesome my favorite non football thing we did was seeing the basketball arena which was way crazier in person.”

Listed by 247Sports at just 225 pounds, Depaepe knows he will need to hit the weight room to develop into an impact Big Ten player and lean on defensive ends coach Buddha Williams.

“Coach Williams is a great dude, he’s been telling me he’s gonna pack on the pounds and get me bigger so I can be a instant impact off the edge. This was the best fit for me because he has a great vision and 4 front really helps me when playing edge.” Depaepe said.

For Depaepe, it was Coach Cignetti’s instant success and the culture of the program that really stood out to him.

“Every program he’s been too he’s immediately made an impact and I believe he can make a significant impact right away at the Big 10 level.” He said adding that, “the culture is great, the coaches fans and everyone apart of Indiana sports has the same goal in mind which is winning so I wanted to be apart of something special.”

Depaepe will sign with the Hoosiers when the early signing period opens on December 20th.
