The Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kick-off has begun! There are now 41 days until the Indiana Hoosiers kick-off the 2017 season against the Ohio State Buckeyes. That seems like a long way away and I suppose it is, but this countdown will fly by and it will be football season before we know it! Today’s countdown takes a look at #41 Mo Burnam.
Mo Burnam (Freshman)
-Height: 6’2”
-Weight: 215 pounds
-Hometown: Conyers, Georgia
-Position: Linebacker
IU had a really solid recruiting class in 2017, but it’s tough to tell how guys will turn out based on their ratings. What I like to do is look at other schools that are interested and have offered to see what type of player IU may be getting, and doing this with Mo Burnam has me very excited about his potential in Bloomington. The one-time Tennessee commit racked up some impressive offers before deciding IU was his best one. Those schools included Cincinnati, Florida State, Louisville, North Carolina, Oregon, Wake Forest, and West Virginia. He also had heavy interest from Georgia and Georgia Tech, but they backed off after IU landed him.
According to his HUDL profile Burnam runs a 4.62 40-yard dash, can bench 275 lbs and squat 415 lbs. Burnam is an outside linebacker who could give the Hoosiers a much needed edge rusher as well as just solid overall linebacker play. He's fast and strong and could be in the mix to play as a true freshman, despite solid depth and talent at the position. The three-star prospect out of Conyers, Georgia (Salem H.S.) was the 40th best player at his position and the 969th best prospect in the nation. Whether or not he plays this year is not that important, as he is expected to be a starting linebacker for Indiana before his career is over. He has all tools to be an All-B1G caliber player, so be sure to keep your eyes out for Burnam.
