The Hoosier Huddle countdown to kickoff carries on! For the 100 days leading up to kickoff, we at Hoosier Huddle will feature every player from the 2024 roster in anticipation of Indiana’s first game of the season against Florida International University. Today, we highlight one of Curt Cignetti’s top gets in his first transfer portal cycle, Elijah Sarratt.
Elijah Sarratt (Junior)
Hometown: Stafford, Virginia
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 209 Pounds
Position: Wide Receiver
As soon as Curt Cignetti was announced as Indiana’s new head coach, there were two main guys that fans began thinking about the possibility of them hitting the portal and following Cignetti to the Hoosiers: QB Jordan McCloud (ultimately wound up at Texas State) and WR Elijah Sarratt, who made his way to the Hoosiers and who we will preview today.
Sarratt was one of James Madison’s top players last season totaling 82 receptions for 1,191 receiving yards (11th nationally) and 8 touchdowns. He ultimately won the team’s MVP award, was an honorable mention All-American by both Phil Steele and the College Football Network, and was an All-Sun Belt first-team performer. He owns six career 100-yard receiving games and has produced multiple touchdowns in five career games. Entering 2024, Sarratt leads all FBS true juniors with 21 receiving touchdowns and sits No. 2 with 1,890 yards receiving (Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona).
Sarratt’s addition truly makes Indiana’s receiving room a formidable task for any opposing secondary to cover. He is expected to be a star this season; The Tallahassee Quarterback Club (TQC) Foundation, Inc., the Florida-based creator and sponsor of the prestigious Biletnikoff Award that annually recognizes college football’s most outstanding pass-catcher, has already added Sarratt to their 2024 watch list. It was a star studded incoming transfer class of receivers for Cignetti, along with bringing Donaven McCulley back, but Sarratt stands out as one of the best and is poised for a big year.
