The Hoosier Huddle countdown to kickoff is underway! For the 100 days leading up to kickoff, we at Hoosier Huddle will feature every player from the 2024 roster in anticipation of Indiana’s first game of the season against Florida International University. Today, we will highlight a walk-on that has a chance to prove he’s capable of more than expected now as he enters his fourth season with the Hoosiers.

Position: Defensive Line

Race Stewart saw his first glimpse of playing time last season and he will look to build on that opportunity in 2024. The local product was a Scout Team player of the week three times before last season, seeing the field against Indiana State last year and recording his first tackle, a sack in the fourth quarter that resulted in a 4-yard loss.

The former standout wrestler at Bloomington North should be excited with what Curt Cignetti and defensive line coach Pat Kuntz have done with walk-ons in the past. One of the biggest bodies along the defensive line, Stewart will have his opportunities to prove his worth. But at worst, he will continue the hard work on the scout team and life as a walk-on.
