The Hoosier Huddle countdown to kickoff rolls on to day 51 and one of the newest Hoosiers Nahji Logan.
2024 Countdown to Kickoff: #51 – Nahji Logan
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 230 pounds
Hometown: Yeadon, Pennsylvania
Class/Position: Redshirt Senior/Linebacker
First-year IU head coach Curt Cignetti has nearly completely changed the roster in Bloomington. Through high school recruiting and a pair of transfer portal windows, Curt Cignetti has added players that will be in the rotation at every level of the offense and defense. The Hoosiers brought in high-major transfers and identified Group of Five players the staff believes can make a difference at the Big Ten level. One of the positions that Indiana needed to add depth to in the spring is linebacker. The Hoosiers brought Aiden Fisher and Jailin Walker from James Madison and the duo are expected to start right away. Joshua Rudolph is a returning senior that played well when given the chance at the end of the 2023 season and Isaiah Jones and Kaiden Turner are returning redshirt sophomores hoping to get a shot. IU needed to add a veteran linebacker to the rotation and Curt Cignetti turned to the independent ranks to fill the void. Nahji Logan was a highly-productive tackler during a four-year career with the Minutemen, earning Second-Team All-Independent honors after the 2023 season.
Among all linebackers with 400 snaps in the FBS, Nahji Logan tied for the fewest missed tackles (per Pro Football Focus). UMass has not been a successful team for a long time but Logan kept battling and had six tackles against Toledo, eight tackles at Penn State, seven stops at Army, six against Liberty and nine in the season finale against UConn. Logan is not a player that is going to wreak havoc in the opposing backfield and he’s not a dynamic playmaker. Instead of focusing on what does not do, Indiana will need to accentuate what he does very well: tackle ball carriers. Nahji Logan is a sure-tackler that should slide into the rotation behind Fisher and Walker. He will battle with Rudolph, Turner, Jones and true freshman Quentin Clark for snaps.
