One of the main focuses of the 2017 recruiting class for the Indiana Hoosiers was beefing up the depth and quality of the defensive front. IU landed a number of commitments from defensive linemen and Wisconsin native Juan Harris is the highest ranked of the bunch. He is considered a four-star prospect by many recruiting services and he is ranked as the sixth-best prospect from the state of Wisconsin.
Juan Harris’ recruitment was never straightforward as he committed and de-committed from a couple of different schools (including a pledge to Indiana in July before reopening his commitment in October and then recommitting on Thanksgiving) before signing with Indiana and enrolling in classes earlier this semester. Harris was a highly sought after prospect and he chose the Hoosiers over Iowa, Minnesota, Louisville, Illinois, Michigan and a host of other schools. Defensive line coach Mark Hagen was his lead recruiter and he’s expected to compete for a spot in the defensive tackle rotation as early as this coming season.
“The school I will be signing with and will be attending next semester is Indiana University,” Harris tweeted on Thanksgiving. “After visiting Indiana with a clear mind things went 10 times better than before. Indiana is my second home and that’s what matters most.”
