Game Wrap and Reaction: Indiana at Michigan

The Hoosiers had an extra week to retool this offense and give Zander Diamont a fighting chance to succeed on the road. Instead the Hoosiers fell flat with Tevin Coleman fumbling twice, once out of the wildcat formation and the other on a handoff. The Hoosiers came into Michigan with the hopes that they would catch the Wolverines in a cloud of drama. They left with another injured quarterback and a demoralizing 34-10 loss. A season that started with so much promise and hope has gone off the rails and now the question is if the Hoosiers will win another game in 2014.

Indiana Hoosiers at Michigan Wolverines By The Numbers

1. Tevin Coleman ranks 1st in the nation with 170.3 yards per game and is on pace to rush for 2,000 yards. He has also run for 100 yards or more in nine straight games.

2. Coleman also needs 200 yards today to move into first place on IU’s all-time list for most 200-yard performances.

3. Shane Wynn needs 39 all-purpose yards to tie Vaugn Dunbar for fifth all-time at IU

4. T.J. Simmons leads the Hoosiers with 43 tackles, 2.5 of them coming for a loss.

5. Freshman Tegray Scales leads the Hoosiers with two interceptions.

6. Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner has thrown 10 interceptions and only six touchdowns this year.

7. Michigan is the least penalized team in the Big Ten with 3.38 penalties per game for an average of 30.5 yards.

8. The Wolverines are holding opponents to just 3.06 yards per carry, good for second in the Big Ten.

Happy Halloween Hoosier Nation! What’s better than having Halloween on a Friday night before a football Saturday? Not much. This week the Hoosiers head up to Ann Arbor, Michigan to take on a Michigan team who will be dressing up as a dumpster fire. Since Michigan is dressing up, let’s see what costumes the Hoosiers defense must wear to win in the Big House for the first time since 1967.

We are entering the final month of the 2014 season and what a wild and crazy ride it has been for Hoosier Nation. Indiana goes into Michigan Saturday looking to end a 47-year drought at the Big House. While Indiana has had their fair share of drama on the field with injuries to their top two quarterbacks, Michigan has had more distractions both on and off the field and it continued Friday when Dave Brandon resigned as Athletic Director, but enough of the drama. Let’s get down to football on this cold rainy Halloween and talk about the three keys for a Hoosiers victory on offense.
