The McCullough Boys Reaffirm Commitment to IU Football

The biggest news in the world of IU football this week was the report that running backs coach Deland McCullough will be heading to Notre Dame to take on the same role with the Irish. Hoosiers fans went into full on meltdown mode over this news, not just because another coach was leaving IU, but what it could mean for the Hoosiers two most coveted recruits over the next two classes in Dasan and Daeh McCullough and current Hoosier defensive back Deland McCullough II.

To the delight, maybe even the disbelief, of IU fans all three McCullough boys reaffirmed that they were staying at or committed to IU.

Deland McCullough II started the wave of social media posts by tweeting “All love for my dad! It’s still #LEO !”. McCullough II transferred to IU from Miami (OH) and appeared in 10 games for the Hoosiers in 2021.

His younger brother Dasan is a current IU signee and is enrolled in classes in Bloomington. Dasan, depending where you look, is rated as a four or five-star prospect and figures to play a prominent role in a Hoosier rebound in 2022 at the linebacker position, but is expected to play all over the field for IU. Dasan tweeted a graphic with “I’m home’ written on it as he is tossing a football shirtless with an IU had and uniform pants on.

The youngest McCullough to be committed to IU is Daeh, who is in the class of 2023 and a four-star defensive back. Daeh tweeted out that he is proud of his father and that they are family no matter where they are. His graphic has him in the retro IU uniform and says “100% locked in”.

While losing Deland McCullough to Notre Dame after just a year back in Bloomington, having his three sons reaffirm their commitment to IU should settle some Hoosier fans down.
