The smoke may be clearing as to who the Hoosiers answer at quarterback will be in 2023 as Indiana native Tayven Jackson will be on campus to visit IU this weekend. According to multiple reports, Jackson’s visit will include watching his brother Trayce and the basketball team take on Wisconsin.

Tayven Jackson was an IU target out of Center Grove High School (Greenwood Ind.), but had committed to Tennessee. After a season with the Volunteers Jackson decided to enter the transfer portal.

Jackson has four years of eligibility left and played in three games with the Volunteers last season. He completed three of four passes for 37 yards and ran four times for 10 yards and a touchdown.

Coming out of high school Allen Trieu of 247Sports said that Jackson was an “Athletic passer with good physical traits. Has height and the body to fill in. Multi-sport guy who does athletic tasks fluidly and easily on the field. Mohile and elusive in the pocket. Can take off and make plays with his feet. Gets rid of the ball quickly, does not try to hold it too long or sandlot play despite his athleticism. Did not throw a high volume of balls in high school compared to other top quarterback recruits and must continue to polish pure passing skills and mechanics. May need a year or two in college, but has a high ceiling.”

The Hoosiers currently have three scholarship quarterbacks on the roster, but would be without Dexter Williams this spring due to his leg injury in the Bucket Game.

Jackson also had a Crystal Ball prediction put him for him to IU by a 247Sports writer.
