Match-up to Watch: Indiana's Tegray Scales Against Penn State's Saquon Barkley

Match-up to Watch: Indiana's Tegray Scales Against Penn State's Saquon Barkley

Written By Alex Compton (@Alexncompton)

IU was finally back on the field last Saturday, and looked the part of a postseason team by nearly all accounts. Except for the injuries it was nearly a perfect game from the Hoosiers, as they were leading 31-0 before the Eagles of Georgia Southern scored a single point. They ran over half of their plays in “garbage time” which shows just how much Tom Allen’s squad dominated on Saturday, and hopefully they have some positive momentum to carry into a certainly daunting task in Happy Valley this weekend. Penn State is currently projected as a College Football Playoff team by most media outlets, and many of those same outlets have their best player as the Heisman favorite after his monster game against Iowa. As all great matchups should be, this one involves the stars of their respective teams, Scales and Barkley.

Top Five Running Backs Indiana Will Face in 2017

Top Five Running Backs Indiana Will Face in 2017

Written by: TJ Inman (@TJHoosierHuddle)

As we march through the summer and into fall camp, Hoosier Huddle will look at the top five opposing players or position groups they will face in 2017. Only players and position groups from teams on the 2017 IU Football schedule are considered.

The Hoosiers face several tough running games in 2017 so this was not an easy list to compile. Talented players like Purdue’s Markell Jones and Rutgers’ Robert Martin were left off. Wisconsin definitely has one of the five best running games IU will face thanks to their beastly offensive line and the depth they’ll bring to the party but it’s impossible to pick out one, or even two, backs the Badgers will lean on (for the record, I like Wisconsin to walk away with the West and their running game is part of the reason why…them not being present here is not a “diss” to their rushing attack). Without further ado, enjoy the rankings and feel free to agree or dispute in our comments section!

2017 First Glance: Week Five Penn State Nittany Lions

2017 First Glance: Week Five Penn State Nittany Lions

Written By Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)

Indiana heads to Happy Valley in week five to face the defending Big Ten Champs, the Penn State Nittany Lions. IU has beaten Penn State just once in their history, a 44-24 win in Bloomington in 2013. The Nittany Lions return the best quarterback-running back combination in the Big Ten, a pretty good tight end as well as some playmakers on defense. This will be Penn State’s homecoming game and they’ll be sporting their retro jerseys. The Big Ten East is really rough, but this may be the toughest game on IU’s schedule in 2017.

Keys to a Hoosier Upset Win Over the Nittany Lions Saturday

Keys to a Hoosier Upset Win Over the Nittany Lions Saturday

The Indiana Hoosiers will be hard pressed to win another game with if they perform the way they did last weekend at Rutgers, but the beauty of college football is that things can change quickly week-to-week. Penn State comes into Bloomington playing as well as anyone in the country. So what does IU need to do to beat them?

Matchup To Watch: Indiana's Tegray Scales vs. Penn State's Saquon Barkley

Matchup To Watch: Indiana's Tegray Scales vs. Penn State's Saquon Barkley

Saquon Barkley vs. Tegray Scales

Our preseason preview had this game as a very winnable one for Indiana. While it still is a winnable game, Penn State is one of the hottest teams in the country at this point in time, rattling off five wins in a row including a 41-14 drubbing of Iowa last weekend. It will take a total team effort to win this game, but perhaps the biggest key for Indiana in this game will be to stop Saquon Barkley. Not only has he resurrected Penn State’s offense and season, he has also joined the Heisman conversation. You could argue that Barkley is having the best year of any running back in the country, and stopping him will be the top priority for Tom Allen and his defense.
