The perception of Indiana football has changed dramatically over recent years, but that will only remain if Indiana is able to consistently match up with its Big Ten East foes in the trenches.

“Anytime you can get production out of your defensive line, you can get more pass rush and you don't have to blitz to get the pass rush, it's a huge benefit,” said Indiana defensive line coach Kevin Peoples. “Those are things we're trying to work on. We're trying to make sure we're doing our job within the scheme and making the plays that come to us.”

The Indiana Hoosiers wrapped up their spring practice on April 10th and head coach Tom Allen and his staff awarded grad transfer defensive lineman Ryder Anderson high praise. Anderson comes to IU from Ole Miss, where the lineman was a pain in the rear end for the Hoosiers offense and gave his new team a first-handle glimpse of what they hope he can bring to Bloomington. Anderson was so impressive during spring practice that he shared the Most Outstanding Defensive Player Award with Micah McFadden. However,, it was not only Anderson’s play on the field that earned him the award, it was his team first attitude that impressed Allen the most.

Ole Miss DE Ryder Anderson Commits to Play for IU in 2021

Less than a week after falling to the Ole Miss Rebels in the Outback Bowl 26-20 the Indiana Hoosiers pick up a commitment from a player who helped defeat them in Ryder Anderson, a senior defensive end from Katy, Texas. Anderson played in 10 games this season and was second on the Rebels team in tackles for loss with 7.5. He made 43 stops on the year including three tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack in the Outback Bowl against the Hoosiers.
