Stevie Scott, 6’1”, 240 pounds, Syracuse, NY (Christian Brothers Academy), Running Back, 247Sports Composite Ranking: 3-Stars
Just one week ago, Stevie Scott was committed to Rutgers and set to become a Scarlet Knight. On Wednesday, Scott will sign on with the Hoosiers. Possibly related to the retirement of Rutgers offensive coordinator Jerry Kill, Scott flipped his commitment to IU on December 15th. Stevie Scott packs a serious punch at 240 pounds, but he’s much faster than most running backs his size. He rushed for over 1,400 yards and 21 touchdowns as a junior for Christian Brothers Academy. His film on Hudl show him use his size to plow through high schoolers, as well as his unexpected burst of speed. Scott posted a vertical jump over 31 inches and a shuttle run time of 4.82 seconds. Again, impressive for a big back. He is a top-100 running back and the 16th best player in the state of New York according to 247Sports Composite.
Scott chose Indiana over a variety of suitors, including Boston College, Minnesota, Pitt, Syracuse, and others. Scott probably would have had an even longer offer sheet had he not missed most of this past season with a foot injury. Despite not being on his initial list of schools, the Hoosiers ultimately won Scott over. "Just a perfect fit for me academically and football-wise," Scott spoke of IU. "Also, it’s all a family there and I can’t wait to be part of it." He mentioned to Hoosier Huddle that Indiana has the trifecta of “perfect facilities, campus, and environment.” Scott joins a talented group of running backs – a position Indiana has enjoyed rampant success with. As Tevin Coleman and Jordan Howard thrive in the NFL, the Hoosiers look to continue recruiting talented runners. Just four days after flipping his decision, Stevie Scott will solidify it in ink.
