Reese Taylor, 5’10”, 171 pounds, Indianapolis, IN (Ben Davis High School), QB/DB, 247 Composite Ranking: 3-star (87.14 rating)

When Tom Allen was hired as the head coach of the Hoosiers, there was a general hope that he would be able to begin steering Indianapolis talent to Bloomington. After all, Allen was the head coach at powerhouse Ben Davis High School and he is widely respected by local coaches. His relationship with the Giants program came in handy as star player Reese Taylor officially signed with the Indiana Hoosiers.

Taylor comes to IU after an incredibly successful senior season that saw him lead the Giants to a state championship and an undefeated season. Taylor’s play made him a runaway victor for Indiana’s Mr. Football award. The honor goes to the state's top player each season and Taylor certainly earned it after completing 73% of his passes, throwing for 3,150 yards and 40 passing touchdowns. In addition, he ran for 802 more yards and 15 touchdowns as the centerpiece of one of the most explosive high school offenses in the country.

After initially being recruited as a defensive back, the IU coaches were so impressed with his play at quarterback that they approached him about taking a shot at the position in college. He has publicly said he’ll do whatever it takes to help the team win and it’s unclear what position he will initially be tried out at in Bloomington. His professional future is likely on the defensive side of the ball as a shut-down corner but the Hoosiers definitely want his explosive athletic ability and playmaking skills on offense. I think it is most likely that he will primarily be a defensive back and have a couple of specific packages as a quarterback. Taylor is the kind of player that you just have to find a way to get on the field and I expect we’ll see quite a bit of him in 2018.
