IU's Carter Smith is BACK!

Indiana University was gifted with extremely good news on Wednesday evening as starting left tackle Carter Smith announced he is returning to Bloomington and remaining a Hoosier. Smith had been in the transfer portal and visited several powerhouse programs with Florida State and Ole Miss standing out as probable destinations but he surprised many by sending a message on social media that he was ready to play for new football coach Curt Cignetti.
Carter Smith returning is a massive piece to the constantly shifting puzzle of the 2024 roster for IU’s new coaching staff. There are still several pieces that need to fall in place but Carter Smith was arguably the most important and irreplaceable player from the 2023 roster to enter the portal and his return is major news for the IU program. Hoosier Huddle will have ongoing coverage of the current transfer portal window.
