The Midwest is going to be a huge priority for the new coaching staff at Indiana, and the Hoosiers just offered an underrated linebacker from Ohio.
The offer goes to 2018 Dublin, Ohio linebacker Jeslord Boateng. Boateng just picked up an offer from the Hoosiers and already sees Indiana as a school that sticks out in his recruitment. 247Sports has him ranked as a three-star prospect and the 31st best player in Ohio. The 6-2, 200 pound linebacker holds offers from Iowa State, Cincinnati, Kentucky and more.
“Iowa State, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, and Cincinnati are all sticking out right now,” Boateng said. “The Indiana offer means a lot to me. It's my first Big Ten offer, it's kinda surreal. The Big Ten is my favorite conference to watch and I can see myself playing in the Big Ten.”
Boateng has been waiting on the Indiana offer for a while now. He said they were the first school to talk to him in his recruitment. The schools recruiting him the hardest are Iowa State, Indiana and Cincinnati, according to Boateng.
“I haven't visited Indiana yet, but I've heard great things about it,” Boateng said. “ I have plans to visit this spring or summer, so I'm looking forward to it. Coach Inge and I are the closest, and he is the one that offered me. We talk a lot, and have a great relationship.”
Boateng, sees a couple things in particular that he needs in a school. He needs a good education, a good system to play and fit in, and a team made up of good guys. He “most definitely” sees that at Indiana.
“I'm trying to get up to Bloomington this Sunday (March 5th),” Boateng said. “I want to meet some of the guys and meet the coaches in real life. It would be awesome so hopefully it will work out. I'm a long, rangy defender and Coach Inge said he loves my game. I still gotta learn more about Indiana, so I'll be playing close attention to them this football season.”
