We are officially on the downhill slope, as there are only 49 days that keep us from IU football’s scheduled 2020 season kickoff. On Friday, September 4th the Hoosiers are set to face the Wisconsin Badgers in Madison, Wisconsin. Today we feature guy Hoosier fans will want to get familiar with— Kham Taylor.
Name: Khameron Taylor
Position/Year: Tight End/Fifth Year
Hometown: Alachua, Florida
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 270 pounds
Having spent his first four years a South Alabama Jaguar, Taylor was mostly used as a blocker on offense. As a starter in South Alabama’s offensive scheme, he was held to two catches for 18 yards with a 13-yard touchdown against Nebraska last season, and five receptions for 67 yards in 2018.
Taylor saw the opportunity to be used as a pass catcher with IU’s offense, and Allen saw Taylor’s “untapped potential” and experience a valuable addition to IU’s young tight end room.
“He has a great combination of size, length and athleticism that immediately helps us become a better football team," Allen said.
The deal to use his final year of eligibility at IU was sealed virtually, without a visit to campus due to Coronavirus.
“I just really considered what I wanted out of myself and what I picture myself doing and who would get the most out of me. I just felt like Indiana was that place that would do that for me.”
Weighing in at 270 pounds, he feels he plays fastest at 255. That being said, Taylor’s focus heading into summer workouts and fall camp is to shed some weight to maximize his explosiveness.
Alongside Peyton Hendershot with his recent return to the team, Taylor adds a veteran to make an impact at a time when depth matters more than ever.
