The Indiana Hoosiers (1-0) defeated the Indiana State Sycamores (0-1) 28-10 after a 50-minute weather delay. The Hoosiers were led by running back Tevin Coleman who ran for a career high 247 yards and two touchdowns. Indiana finished the game with 455 rushing yards and 566 total yards.

The IU defense played well after a slow start but ended up holding the Sycamores to just 170 total yards and two of 14 on third downs. The 10 Indiana State points came off of Hoosier turnovers. A field goal off of a J-Shun Harris muffed punt and a touchdown off of a Nate Sudfeld interception.

The usually explosive IU offense was clearly toned down in the game as the Hoosiers only attempted four first half passes and just a total of 18 for the game. Sudfeld did not look sharp as he missed open receivers and threw a very bad interception.

Sycamore senior quarterback Mike Perish finished the game 17 for 32 for 140 yards and no touchdowns. The Hoosiers allowed only 30 yards rushing in the game.
