June is summer camp season for college football programs, and is usually a time where programs land a few commitments. Tom Allen and the Indiana Hoosiers received their first commitment of camp season when three-star wide receiver Jacolby Hewitt pulled the trigger Saturday evening. Hewitt, from Cordova, Tennessee, is a 6-foot-2 190- pound receiver who fits the profile of what wide receivers coach Grant Heard is looking for. He is ranked as the 57th best player in Tennessee according to 247 Sports.
According to Max Preps Hewitt caught 33 passes for 694 yards and seven touchdowns in 2016. He's a physical wide out who may not out run defenders in the secondary but can bully his way to extra yards.
Hewitt announced his commitment on Twitter saying, "through the blessings of God and the help and motivation from all the people that believed in me. I am proud to announce my commitment to Indiana University to play football and continue my academic learning. A special thanks to the Big Bro Dillion Mitchell for taking me under his wing and that Dawg Pound Training. Indiana Hoosiers-Big 10 Conference- Power 5 Here I Come!!!"
Hewitt is Indiana's fourth commitment in the 2018 class and held offers from Memphis, Austin Peay, Chattanooga, Eastern Kentucky, and Jacksonville State.
