Hoosiers Land 6-foot-2 Wide Receiver Tyrese Fryfogle Out of Mississippi

The Grant Heard effect is in full swing now as the Hoosiers landed Mississippi wide out Tyrese Fryfogle over Mississippi and Idaho on Tuesday evening. Fryfogle, a 6-foot-2 WR, had made his official visit to Bloomington this past weekend and announced his decision on Twitter.

On Twitter the newest Hoosier said, "First and foremost, I would like to thank God for all the gifts and blessings he has delivered to me. I would like to thank my family for supporting me every step of the way and getting me to this place in life. I would also like to thank all of the college coaches who have recruited me in this long process, it's been a great experience. I would also like to thank everyone who has come into my life and been nothing but positive supporters, especially my teammates, with that being said I am now committed to INDIANA UNIVERSITY! #HoosierArmy17"

At his size Fryfogle compares to both Simmie Cobbs and Nick Westbrook, who are as good of role models a Big Ten receiving prospect can have. IU has a deep group of receivers which will allow for the youngster to not have to be rushed into action and let him develop in a college strength and conditioning program.

Fryfogle had a tremendous senior season where he made 89 catches for 1,430 yards and 13 touchdowns. According to his HUDL page, Fryfogle runs a 4.56 40-yard dash and can bench press 235 pounds. He also has a 38-inch vertical.

His raw speed could be a concern, but a season training with the IU strength staff should sure up some of his measurables. Fryfogle does possess big play ability and his size allows him to punish smaller defenders who try to take him down with arm tackles. His vertical, combined with a good set of hands, gives him the ability to go up and snatch the ball out of the air.

He is currently unrated by the major recruiting services. Indiana's 2017 class now stands at 18.
