Hoosiers Get Commitment from Tennessee Athlete Cam Jones
/Written By Kris Shankle
Hoosier Nation is probably very familiar with this name, but ATH Cam Jones, a one time IU commit, has decided he likes the program so much he is doing it all over again. This time coach Tom Allen had some stiffer competition from the likes of Tennessee, Memphis, Mizzou, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and more. Even with all the extra attention, Jones decided to put his trust in the Hoosiers staff once again.
Now officially a Hoosier once again, where will Jones play? Jones has played multiple positions this year including QB, wide receiver and defensive end, but will probably be a linebacker at IU. While he does most of his damage on offense from the receiver spot, where he has over 400 yards for St. Benedict(AT Auburndale), he’s scored touchdowns from all three positions including a pick-six. Coach John Cooley raves about his multi positional talent and loves his toughness on defense where he has made a big impact as well with five sacks and two interceptions. However, indications are that Jones will slide into a linebacker role in 2018.
That question and more will be answered in the coming months as Jones wraps up his senior season and makes his way to Bloomington. Until then this gives Tom Allen and the Hoosiers can celebrate a big recruiting win ahead of their matchup with Michigan State.
Jones is commitment number 18 for the Hoosiers' 2018 class. He is ranked a three-star prospect by 247 Sports Composite ranking and is the 933rd best player in the nation. IU stands at 10th in the Big Ten and 41st nationally in 247 Sports Composite rankings.
