The Hoosiers needed to find a defensive tackle in the transfer portal and on Wednesday they just that when defensive tackle Weston Kramer committed to play for IU. Kramer has played four seasons for the Huskies and was a three year starter. He was committed to Temple before de-committing in March.

Kramer made his announcement Wednesday night on Twitter. He is listed at six-foot-two and 290 pounds. In 45 games he totaled 97 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks and in 2019 he was named a third-team All-MAC selection by Pro Football Focus.

“I just feel like I need better competition,” Kramer said in an interview with 247Sports. “I’ve been a three-year starter in the MAC and every year it seems like it gets easier and easier for me to go against them. I just want better competition so I can get better film.”

Kramer was considered one of the top defensive tackle prospects in the portal and will have just a season to play in Bloomington. The Hoosiers lost defensive tackles Jerome Johnson and Jovan Swann to the NFL Draft and Damarjhe Lewis to the portal earlier this year.
