There are now 88 days remaining until the Indiana Hoosiers kick-off the 2016 season in Miami against the Florida International Golden Panthers. Join us each day for each part of our 100-day countdown to the opener! No current Hoosier wears #88, so instead we will take a look at incoming freshman Taysir Mack.

Welcome to New York…or more accurately welcome the New Yorker to Indiana. Taysir Mack will be joining the Hoosier roster this upcoming season from Grand Street High School in Brooklyn, New York. Originally committed to a Big Ten school closer to home, Rutgers in New Jersey, Mack flipped his commitment at the very last second to Indiana. Mack was rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports and was ranked the third wide receiver prospect in the state of New York by rivals.com. He had offers from schools including Rutgers, Syracuse, Connecticut, and Penn State. As a senior, Mack recorded 900 yards with 15 touchdowns on 45 catches. In translation, that’s a touchdown scored every third pass that he caught. Whether or not Mack gets playing time as a freshman's debatable, but there is no doubt that he will add depth to the receivers of Indiana.
Although the Hoosiers have an already crowded receiving corps Mack brings the size, 6'3", to force his way into the lineup if necessary. However, it is more likely that Mack will redshirt the 2016 season as the Hoosiers do have size with Simmie Cobbs and Nick Westbrook to make due. Whether it be in 2016 or 2017, Mack will be a name to remember in the Hoosier offense.
