There are now 89 days remaining until the Indiana Hoosiers kick-off the 2016 season in Miami against the Florida International Golden Panthers. Join us each day for each part of our 100-day countdown to the opener! Today is the day to focus on Jake Shake, so here we go!
Jake Shake
-Height: 6’0”
-Weight: 183 pounds
-Hometown: Lafayette, Indiana
-Position: Punter
Punters are players too, and that is exactly what Indiana fans may realize now that senior punter Eric Toth is gone. Although I won’t miss him calling his own fake punts in our own territory, I will miss the stability that he gave the position. Although many of us expect Joseph Gedeon to win the punting job this summer, I would be lying if I said I don’t like a good ol’ fashioned punting battle all camp.
Jake Shake walked on to the team in 2014, and has yet to see game action in either of his two seasons. He attended McCutcheon High School and was a first team all-state selection as a kicker and punter. Additionally, Shake lettered in both soccer and track during his high school days, where he was an all-conference selection for soccer. I admittedly don’t know much about his punting ability, but regardless of what happens in the battle between he and Gedeon, I would like to put Jake Shake down for one of the best names on the team. Jake Shake, Jake Shake, Jake Shake. Love it.
