A little over a month is left between us and football season! The Hoosiers kick off the 2020 season at Camp Randall Stadium against the Wisconsin Badgers. Today, we’ll highlight incoming freshman defensive back, Bryson Bonds.
Bryson Bonds (Freshman)
Hometown: Crowley, Texas
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 200 Pounds
Position: Defensive Back
On the same day it was announced that Indiana would be playing in the Gator Bowl, Texas defensive back prospect Bryson Bonds committed to the Hoosiers. Bonds was ranked a 3-star prospect by 247Sports and the nation’s 51st best safety by ESPN. By the end of his recruitment, Bonds had compiled 26 scholarship offers from schools such as Minnesota, Kansas, Texas Tech, Harvard, and others.
Bonds was a highly prioritized recruit by Allen and former safeties coach Kasey Teegardin because of his athletic ability and natural knack for the ball. In his senior season at Crowley High School, Bonds recorded 115 tackles, 11 pass break ups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries. This attack-minded attitude for the ball will fit perfectly into the strategy Kane Wommack has designed for the Hoosiers’ swarming defensive secondary.
Bonds fit in the 2020 secondary is still to be determined, but there is no doubt he will work as hard as he can to see the field. Bonds told Peegs after committing that he was “so excited to compete in the Big Ten. My work is far from done.”
