Keys committed to Indiana back in June and is a prime example of Coach Tom Allen’s willingness to go anywhere to find his breed of player. Collins, Mississippi is a town with a population of only 2,500 located southeast of Jackson, MS. That is where Allen was able to find Christopher Keys, a 6-foot-1, 165-pound cornerback.
Keys, who has rarely left the state of Mississippi, never expected to find himself in Indiana, but knew when he took a visit that it was the right fit for him.
“It was about family, it was about school, and it was about much more than football to the people at Indiana. I really liked that.”
Keys plans to compete in the 2020 track season for Collins High School before heading to Bloomington in the summer.
“I will get up there next spring and my mindset is to make an immediate impact. I will give Indiana my all as soon as I get there.”
At 165 pounds, Keys will have some weight to put on in the offseason to begin producing in the Big Ten. However, he certainly has the frame to be an effective corner. He is an athletic, long-strider that allows him to fly around the field. His speed and height should match up well in the future against big-bodied receivers of the Big Ten.
