Aaron Casey, 6’1”, 209 pounds, Douglasville, GA (Alexander H.S.), LB, 247Sports Composite Ranking: 3-star (85.05)
The Hoosiers will need to fill some holes at linebacker in this class after the graduation of Tegray Scales and Chris Covington. Tom Allen and the IU defensive staff are looking for Casey to step up into one of those roles. Casey played safety in high school and should be able to make the transition to linebacker at the next level as he has the frame to put on the extra bulk needed for the position. In an interview with Matt Weaver of Peegs.com, Casey said that linebackers coach William Inge told him that he could see the field early on in his IU career.
Casey has good hands and a nose for the ball, which made him an excellent safety in high school. During his senior year, Casey made 120 tackles, picked off five passes, and defensed 10 total passes. He had 21 total offers including ones from Iowa State, Rutgers and West Virginia of the Power Five before choosing IU back in June.
