2024 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 49 Days (Ta'Derius Collins)

We are officially on the back half of the countdown to kickoff as there are just seven weeks until IU kickoffs against FIU. Today we look at one of the brightest young defensive linemen the Hoosiers have in Ta’Darius Collins.

COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: #49 Ta’Darius Collins

Height: 6’4”

Weight: 242 pounds

Hometown: Shreveport, Louisiana (Northwood)

Class/Position: RS Freshman

Collins came to IU as one of the top 25 players out of the state of Louisiana and was going to be counted on as a cornerstone of the defensive line in the future. Despite his high rating and the Hoosiers struggling in 2023, Collins did not see any game action. He will be a redshirt freshman this season and could be an important part of the rotation up front. 

Former head coach Tom Allen said that “Ta'Derius Collins is a guy that has a chance to be a really special player at the defensive end and a bull combination that he can play both positions” late last season. Collins’ position versatility is a major asset for a unit that needs as much depth as it can find.
