2024 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 4 Days (Myles Price)
/Written by T.J. Inman
It is game week and with four days until kickoff against the FIU Golden Panthers we take a look at one of the potential impact transfers in wide receiver Myles Price.
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 185 pounds
Hometown: The Colony, Texas (transfer from Texas Tech)
Class/Position: Redshirt Senior/Wide Receiver
There are times in the not-too-distant past that a receiver of Myles Price’s quality would have been the surefire number one target for the Indiana Hoosiers. After all, Price has led a power conference team that went to a bowl game in receptions. He has also earned honorable mention honors in two consecutive seasons in a power conference. Those kind of credentials would usually match or surpass any other pass-catcher on IU’s roster. The fact that Myles Price is not considered a piece of the passing attack but not the main piece of the attack is a sign of how strong Indiana’s wide receiver room is heading into the 2024 season. With less than five days remaining until the Hoosiers kick off the Curt Cignetti area, the firepower in the passing game is one of the more exciting things to look forward to for Hoosier fans.
Myles Price played at The Colony High School in Texas and was a three-star prospect that chose to stay in-state and play for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. He appeared in nine games as a freshman in 2020 and was used as a receiver and gadget player with 30 catches and 12 carries for 424 total yards. He started in nine games in 2021 and had 523 receiving yards and then really came into his own in 2022. Price missed two games to injury but led the team in receptions (51). He led the team in receptions again in 2023 and he earned All-Big 12 honorable mention in both the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Price is only 5’9” and he has missed games five games due to injury but he is very capable of taking the bumps and bruises of the Big Ten as a starting slot receiver. In addition to his work as a receiver, Myles Price has experience as a kick returner and a punt returner.
The Hoosiers are going to play a lot of receivers this season. Elijah Sarratt and Donaven McCulley are going to be the top two outside wide receivers. Players like Omar Cooper, Andison Coby, E.J. Williams and Miles Cross will certainly get snaps on the outside as well. The two primary slot weapons figure to be Myles Price and Ke’Shawn Williams. Plenty of the receivers have versatility and can play either inside or outside and the Hoosiers will utilize four wide sets often. Texas Tech fans loved Myles Price and were very sad to see him go. The time is nigh for Hoosier fans to fall in love as well.
