Welcome back to the 2024 Hoosier Huddle Countdown! From now until Indiana’s opening day against the FIU Golden Panthers, the Hoosier Huddle staff will feature every player on the Hoosiers football roster for 2024. Today, the featured player as we are 34 days out is #34, Anthony Chung.

Height: 6’ 1”

Weight: 192 pounds

Hometown: Mequon, Wisconsin

High School: Homestead High School

Class/Position: Redshirt Freshman / Defensive Back

Anthony Chung returns to Bloomington for his Redshirt Freshman season after joining the program as a walk-on under Tom Allen in the 2023 football season. He did not make it into a game his first season, but is likely looking to change that ahead of his next few years in crimson and cream.

It’s easy to see why Coach Tom Allen brought Chung onto the team, and why Coach Curt Cignetti retained him after the Hoosiers and Allen parted ways. At 6’1” and pushing 200 pounds, Chung brings an ideal frame to the safety spot (Chung played SS in high school, per his Hudl profile).

As Safety isn’t the deepest position on the team, Chung has a unique opportunity to battle in practice, push others to be their best, and fight for snaps with hard work. At such a young age, he may even grow an inch or two as well. Look for Chung to challenge for Practice Team Players of the Week Awards as he continues to learn under the new regime and the bevy of veteran safeties slated to start and play a backup role for the Hoosiers in 2024.
