/Written By Ben Gillard
Welcome, Hoosier fans to the 2024 Hoosier Huddle Countdown! Over the next 100 days the Hoosier Huddle staff will feature every player on the 2024 roster in anticipation of the season opener on August 31st against the FIU Golden Panthers. Today, we look at redshirt junior defensive lineman Andrew Turvy and James Madison transfer Solomon Vanhorse (Separate post).
COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: # 18 – Andrew Turvy
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 252 pounds
Hometown: Carmel, Indiana
High School: Carmel
Class/Position: Redshirt Junior / Defensive Lineman
An Indiana native out of Carmel High School, Turvy totaled 9 sacks, 173 tackles, 17 TFLs, and 1 interception over his career, helping the Greyhounds to a state title in 2019 and being selected to the all-state and all-conference teams in the process.
Turvy walked on to the Hoosiers in 2021, and joined the team in fall camp, where he immediately began to make an impact on the scout team. He was named the special teams scout team player of the year and a two-time defensive scout team player of the week. Turvy has also shown himself to be a hardworking student, earning an Academic All-Big 10 selection in 2022.
This hard work has seemed to pay off for Turvy, as over the past two seasons he has seen snaps on special teams in 12 games. This season Turvy seems to be poised to be a regular contributor on the Hoosiers’ special teams unit and may see some snaps on defense as well.
