2023 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 74 Days (Bray Lynch)
/Written by: Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)
The 2023 edition of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown is officially underway! We are counting down from 100 to the beginning of the 2023 Indiana University football season. Each day, we will look at one (or two) players on the current Indiana football roster and highlight the player’s role in the upcoming season. Today we continue our run of offensive lineman with Bray Lynch.
Name: Bray Lynch
Hometown: Austin, Texas (Westlake)
Position: Offensive Line
Year: Redshirt Freshman
Height/Weight: 6’5”/295 pounds
Social Media: Twitter (@bray_lynch74)
There was much fanfare surrounding Bray Lynch coming to IU. He was a 2021 MaxPreps All-American and first-team all-state selection. Lynch also helped Westlake to three-straight state championships (2019-21). While he redshirted his first year on campus in 2022 he played in four games.
Former offensive line coach Darren Hiller, who recruited Lynch to IU, had this to say about him during fall camp last season.
“Bray came from Austin Westlake and started 35 games. Coming from that high school program, we felt that him coming in here, the knowledge base would be pretty good. Bray is ahead of the curve from a knowledge standpoint. When we're in meetings and going through our installs, the freshmen, early on, are usually asking very basic questions. Bray's questions were a little more advanced.”
Lynch figures to be in the rotation this season as new offensive line coach Bob Bostad arrives in Bloomington. While he may not start, Lynch should be much more of a factor this season after getting his feet wet last season.
The Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff rolls on with Day 73 tomorrow!
