2023 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 50 Days (Zach Carpenter)

Written by: Ethan Roberts

The Hoosier Huddle countdown to kickoff marches on! For the 100 days leading up to kickoff, we at Hoosier Huddle will feature every player from the 2023 roster in anticipation of Indiana’s first game of the season against Ohio State in Bloomington. Today, we will highlight center Zach Carpenter.

Name: Zach Carpenter

Hometown: Cincinatti, OH

Position: Center

Year: Redshirt Senior

Height/Weight: 6’5”/305 pounds

Social Media: Twitter: @CZach23

Carpenter joined the Hoosiers as a transfer from Michigan prior to the 2021 season. In 2022, he started 10 games and missed two games due to injury. The 2022 season proved to be a forgetful passing season for the Hoosiers. According to Sports-Reference, The Hoosiers finished last in the Big Ten in yards per pass attempt and ninth in total passing yards among qualifying quarterbacks.

Carpenter will likely start in the 2023 season and have the opportunity to become the leader of the position group, with a strong record of setting positive examples through work ethic. With a few years of starting experience under his belt at IU now, he takes on the responsibility along with Mike Katic and Matthew Bedford of leading a much-needed turnaround of the offensive line group.

The Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff rolls on with Day 49 tomorrow!
