2023 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 45 Days (Andrew Turvy)
/Written by: Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)
The 2023 edition of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown is officially underway! We are counting down from 100 to the beginning of the 2023 Indiana University football season. Each day, we will take a look at one (or two) players on the current Indiana football roster and highlight the player’s role in the upcoming season. Today’s profile features redshirt sophomore linebacker Andrew Turvy.
Name: Andrew Turvy
Hometown: Carmel, IN (Carmel High School)
Position: Linebacker
Year: Redshirt Sophomore
Height/Weight: 6’2”/244 pounds
Turvy walked on to the Hoosier football program prior to the 2021 season. At Carmel High School, Turvy was selected to the all-state and all-conference teams as he posted 173 tackles, nine sacks, 17 for loss, and one interception.
In 2021 Turvy was named Special Teams Scout Team Player of the Year and was a two-time Defensive Scout Team Player of the Week. He played in his first game with the Hoosiers in 2022 as he appeared in five games. He was also an Academic All-Big Ten selection in 2022.
Turvy’s hard work has been rewarded with playing time early in his career. There is no reason to think that he can be a regular on special teams and find his way into some defensive snaps this season.
The Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff rolls on with Day 44 tomorrow!
