2023 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 41 Days (Lanell Carr)

The 2023 edition of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown is officially underway! We are counting down from 100 to the beginning of the 2023 Indiana University football season. Each day, we will look at one (or two) players on the current Indiana football roster and highlight the player’s role in the upcoming season. Today we look at linebacker Lanell Carr.

Hometown: St. Louis, Missouri

Position: Outside Linebacker/EDGE

Year: Senior

Height/Weight: 6’1”/243 pounds

Carr appeared in 27 games for West Virginia University before entering the portal following the end to the Mountaineer’s 5-7 season. He joined the Hoosiers just two days after entering the portal.

In 2022, Carr started twice and appeared in all 12 games. He tallied 21 tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss, and a sack.

Carr joins four other Hoosiers in the outside linebacker grouping, including projected starter Myles Jackson. He will hope to win the starting battle against Jackson in fall camp and utilize his experience to add an additional tool to Coach Allen’s toolbox.
