Welcome, Hoosiers fans, to the 2023 Hoosier Huddle Countdown! We countdown from 100 days to the beginning of the 2023 Indiana University football season on September 2nd against the Ohio State Buckeyes. Every day, we look at players on the current roster and highlight the player’s roles in the upcoming season. Today we dive into defensive captain and sixth-year senior Noah Pierre.
Name: Noah Pierre
Hometown: Hialeah , Florida
Position: Cornerback
Year: Redshirt Senior
Height/Weight: 5-11/ 175
Pierre earned lots of playing time last season as his hard work paid off. Six years ago, was Pierre’s first season in Bloomington making just one appearance against Purdue. The following two seasons 2019 and 2020 Pierre earned more playing time mostly on special teams. The 2021 season was Pierre coming out. He got much playing time at corner after injuries derailed the Hoosiers secondary. His best game that season came against the Spartans where he nine tackles and his career interception. Last season, Pierre played in all 12 games lining up in the corner as well being asked to rush the passer. He finished the season with 25 tackles and three sacks.
For his career, Pierre has played in 43 games with IU tallying 82 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, eight passes defensed and an interception.
This season, Pierre is being tagged as one of the captains of the defense. His moto and clothing line is No Problems (Fans can find it here.) He changed his number from 21 to zero. Pierre has embraced his role and is pushing a lot of the younger corners Phillip Dunnam, James Mond III, and Jamari Sharpe.
