Welcome Hoosiers fans to the 2023 Hoosier Huddle Countdown! We countdown from 100 days to the beginning of the 2023 Indiana University football season on September 2nd against the Ohio State Buckeyes. Every day, we look at players on the current roster and highlight the players' roles in the upcoming season. Today we dive into second-year Hoosier Andison Coby.
Name: Andison Coby
Hometown: Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Position: Wide Receiver
Year: Junior
Height/Weight: 6’2”/ 175 lbs.
Coby spent the 2020 season playing JUCO ball at Northeast Mississippi Community College. He caught 24 passes for 422 yards and seven touchdowns. After the outstanding season, he received interest from power five schools. Two seasons ago, he decided to go to the University of Tennessee. He played in five games in Knoxville receiving little playing time and only catching one pass. After the opportunity opened itself, he decided to transfer to IU and join Walt Bell’s offense.
Out of high school, Coby was not heavily recruited which is why he decided to go the JUCO route. It worked out in his favor. Last season, Coby played in all 12 games making 10 starts. He caught 18 balls for over 200 yards and one touchdown. Most of his production came into the middle of the season against Nebraska, Michigan, and Maryland.
This season, Coby joins a deep wide receiver unit. He will have to earn playing time during summer camp and make the most of his opportunities in practice. Lastly, being a veteran and returning player Coby, has an upper hand for one of the starting receiving spots.
