Eli Jochem joined the Hoosiers as a walk-on wide receiver prior to the 2021 season. He played his high school football at Pine-Richland High School in Pennsylvania. Jochem had an outstanding high school career winning a state title in 2020. The individual awards were there as well as Jochem earned 2020 All-PA First Team honors as well as being named a Tribune-Review All-Star. He graduated as Pine-Richland’s all-time leader in receptions, yards, and receiving touchdowns in a single season.

Upon agreeing to walk-on at IU, Jochem said, “I have the chance to compete at the highest level in football and this provides me that opportunity.”

Jochem redshirted his first year in Bloomington, but made a major impact on the scout team as he earned two Scout Team Player of the Week honors. During the season last year Jochem got praise from head coach Tom Allen.

“Eli Jochem is the special teams scout team player of the week, one of our receivers that continues to give us great effort. Eli does an awesome job for us.” Allen said.

Jochem is unlikely to see much playing time, if any this season. However, Allen has rewarded the hard work of walk-ons with time of special teams.
