#16

The Hoosier Huddle countdown to kickoff is just over two weeks away! For the 100 days leading up to kickoff, we at Hoosier Huddle will feature every player from the 2022 roster in anticipation of Indiana’s first game of the season against Illinois in Bloomington. Today, we will highlight two members of the Hoosiers donning the #16 jersey this season: Jordan Grier and Grant Gremel.

Grant Gremel (Redshirt Junior)

Hometown: Noblesville, Indiana

Height: 6’3”

Weight: 206 Pounds

Position: Quarterback

Poor offensive line play and injuries devastated the Indiana quarterback room last season. The resulting revolving door of quarterbacks ultimately led Grant Gremel to be the first walk-on quarterback to start a game for the Hoosiers since 1995. Though not having seen any playing time in his first two seasons, Gremel finished the season having appeared in five games, completing 32-of-58 passes for 269 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Though it was far too late to be meaningful, Gremel did play well in his relief appearance against Minnesota, throwing for 60 yards and a touchdown and adding 27 yards on the ground.

Ideally, Gremel will be back to his depth position this season. The 2021 Academic All-Big Ten selection is studying management through SPEA. His One Word for 2022 is Trust.
