Somebody asked me this question the other day.  His choice was Solo.  Not bad. I came up with Secret to my Success with Michael J. Fox.  Just a fun movie.  I also thought of Meatballs, the Imitation Game, Green Room, the Family Stone and High Fidelity. I'm sure there are others I could add, but these popped into my head.

Breaker Morant. It is a brilliant military courtroom drama that isn't discussed much at all.

Joe Versus the Volcano

No, seriously.  One of the better uses of symbolism in a modern movie.  The story focuses on Joe's journey down the crooked path of life to get to the end where he finds love and happiness, but there are sharp turns sometimes that pull you in directions you never expected.

This shows up in images throughout the movie.

Like his walking path to his job at the beginning.

The lightning bolt that destroys the ship he is traveling on

The path up the volcano.

I can't say it's the "most" underrated, but I will say Den of Thieves is entertaining and not well reviewed (42% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics).

Rope is Hitchcock's most underrated.  I loved Dark City and Millers Crossing, but I'm not sure anyone talks about them.

Dark City is great.  Kiefer Sutherland was excellent there, with a really cool premise.

I enjoyed Joe vs the Volcano as well.

I liked John Carter even though it bombed at the box office.

Mine would be "The Man from Earth". Very limited theatrical run but gained a somewhat cult following mostly due to prevalence of file sharing from the late 2000's through the early 2010's. Low budget, short run time but thought provoking premise. Worth a watch.

We've done this one before, and my answer is the same now as then: The Passion of the Christ.

Is it the greatest film ever? No. But it's extremely well done, and the 50% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes is a travesty.

A nearly impossible question since it's all relative...

Trainspotting - doesn't get enough attention

In Bruges - Colin Farrell's best movie

Grandma's Boy - one of my favorite comedies that never got the hype of Old School, Wedding Crashers, etc.

Synechdoche, New York.  Charlie Kaufman weirdness, a great PSH performance.  Not a fun hang but watched it 4 or 5 times in a two week period & couldn’t get it out of my head.  Still can’t I guess…

Concur with that. It was extremely underrated by the critics. Another genre, but the original Predator should be on the list too.
