@snarlcakes you got to get off that. It’s not a required part of the definition. It’s simply an increase in the price of goods and services that reduces purchasing power.
and that’s exactly what tariffs are doing
@mcm666 inflation is an aggregate measurement and your admittance of a reduction of purchasing power makes my point.
@snarlcakes no push inflation is exactly what I described. There’s no need for new money.
@mcm666 where am I getting more money from to buy your increased prices? The answer is I won't or from less consumption of other goods and services. Please, one time explain where the new money is coming from?
So you think because meat and veggies cost more, people will happily not take a family vacation and not complain?
St Louis Fed says tariffs add .5% to the overall inflation so far.

But we know some companies are eating the cost.
Ford took an $800 million hit to profits in the second quarter. They ate them. That won't happen forever, stockholders will revolt. Cost of cars will go up, leaving less money for family vacations, eating out, new clothes.
You can look it up, this all happened under Biden too. You think people only spent the stimulus money causing inflation. Nope, inflation caused people to run the credit cards. Credit card debt at first went down during COVID, then shot up by record amounts. People were out of their stimulus and using credit to drive inflation. You can look it up yourself, credit card debt in 2025 is rising astronomically. Late/missed payments are rapidly increasing.
Trump saying inflation is not a problem is worse for Republicans than a socialist mayor is for Democrats.
The pivot is here. Still need to nuke the filibuster and get Paul and Turtle head on board with America First policies.

@bradstevens Ives never trusted him. I’m like the silverback who is getting older and I’ve lost multiple heavies in DANC cray etc. that snarl is the worst. Rogue and opportunistic
@arthur-dent I think that .5 is going to spike. A lot of companies have money. They scrambled and stocked inventory. When that is burned through I bet we’ll see more pronounced price increases
@mcm666 😤 😤 😤 😤 so were running 2 trillion dollars deficits and you think 300 billion in raised tariff revenue is going to spike inflation? I don't even know why I try anymore 🤬 At the annual I'm making a run for your crown. I've spoken with Cray, he's backing me for succession.
@snarlcakes 🤣🤣. I know tariffs increase the price of shipping goods. Businesses will pass that cost on to consumers by raising prices on goods. Goods will be more expensive to buy
call it inflation. Call it anything you want.
Speaking of the tariffs, indications are that the SCOTUS will strike them down or significantly restrict the President's power to impose them because they are taxes on Americans and Congress (the House), not the President, has the power to tax.@snarlcakes 🤣🤣. Meanwhile the President says tariffs are life or death (literally):
Trump: Tariff case is "life or death" for US

@aloha-hoosier i don't know enough about any of that stuff to have an opinion as to what the s.ct. will do. i agree with below tho
that economists estimate could boost some U.S. manufacturing in the long run but cost American families an average of more than $1700 this year alone in higher prices.

Only one act is being challenged and Trump has multiple ways to implement tariffs. They likely aren't going anywhere regardless of this case.
This is about the President using the IEEPA which the President has claimed allows him to impose all of these tariffs. Name some of those "multiple" other ways he could do it. Also explain what is Republican about imposing these tariffs, which are ultimately tax increases on Americans.Only one act is being challenged and Trump has multiple ways to implement tariffs.
