It's the sending taxpayer money to privates schools in the form of vouchers (stealing from public schools) and trying to destroy the dept of education that people have issues with.

Meh, I disagree with those who push for school choice on this. You make the choice to send your kid to a private institution, you should be funding that endeavor. Local people have some ability to vote on their property taxes (higher or lower, referendums to fund education, etc.). One of those uses of property taxes is to fund public schools. If you don't want to pay property taxes - then don't own property or move to a low or no cost area and send your kids to private school.
I always laugh when the urban people who send their kids to private school, don't use public transportation, etc. complain about city property taxes (e.g., Cook Co., IL). You can always move. You do have a choice.
@jdb My son goes to public school, but I see it it more as dividing the tax revenue allotted for education up per child. The money should be for educating children, not just funding the school corp imo. An extreme example, but if a new private school opens, & 200 kids leave the public school for the private, should the school still get the same funding, or do you cut the funding, cut taxes, etc?

It's a fair point and I acknowledge that some federal funding, of which I am not a proponent of, should go to every child assuming it was collected via common revenue sources (e.g., income taxes).
In your example, I would prefer the government cut funding/taxes vs. start playing an allocation game. We all know that is a difficult political decision though.
