Apathy is one word for it, but it's more likely that if the President is as unpopular as now or more unpopular by the election and attitudes about the economy are as bad or worse as the polls show now, there just won't be many that are going to vote for the party in power. Many that voted Republican last time might stay home and they may take a flier on Democrats. Either way, the result would be the same.
Which Dems are going to encourage that? Random Dems on the streets? Senators? Representatives? Dems working in law enforcement? Dems working with ICE? Dems who are Governors and Mayors?
This is the thing - I've long considered Democrats political opponents and wrong on most of the issues, but I know they're fellow Americans with different ideas on how to solve problems, but not enemies as in the since of doing war with them.
