Rust bucket tanker the US is chasing down.
Oil tanker pursued by US now has a Russian flag painted on its side

Maduro has been indicted on charges of narco-terrorism, cocaine trafficking, and weapons conspiracies
Does the operation being done “in conjunction with US Law Enforcement” mean Congress (Feckless R/D) don’t need to be consulted? is his basically Noriega all over again?
edit: I drank coffee and looked up my answer. Yes, Congress was at least consulted before the invasion of Panama. Public support was also 80%. No formal declaration of war of course (bc Congress doesn’t do that anymore or in 1989) and no real legislation passed for authorization. So this isn’t untrod ground for a US president but I doubt there is 80% public support. Geopolitically this looks like either:
- a blatant resource grab or
- Beating China (or their lil bro Russia) to the jump
- all of the above
its most certainly not about the bullshit narco terrorism pretext
So many questions right now. A big one is who is in charge of Venezuela at the moment?

I know this will be a surprise but the deputy president is in Moscow

Langley?
A good friend will bail you out of jail, but your best friend will be sitting next to you in the cell saying "that was f***ing awesome"
My guess is the removal of an enemy in the “Americas”….Colombian President is probably a skosh nervous.
It sounds like we are done. Goal accomplished. Zero casualties.
Those Russian bought air defenses were tough.
Compare this operation to Russia in Ukraine…

Lol. Oh the irony.

Venezuela has closed its border with Brazil

well there is no comparison. Totally different situations. Crimea, the Donbas, etc. have been hotly contested for over a quarter century. We never wanted land from Venezuela.
is Colombia next if they step out of line? Brazil and their leftist leader?
my main concern is the ever escalating growth of executive power concentrated in a man/woman with barely over 50% of American votes.
Trump…”Something’s going to have to be done with Mexico”
The Venezuela thing has Rubio’s hands all over it…he’s by far the best pick Trump made
Trump has threatened another round of strikes if Maduro loyalists do not step down
Maduro was woken by special forces….great work by top notch professionals
Trump… “We will play a role in deciding who leads Venezuela, and we are currently assessing the next steps regarding its leadership”
Chinese… “China is deeply shocked by and strongly condemns the U.S. blatant use of force against a Sovereign state and action against its president”

It's a clear signal to those country leaders China isn't in charge anymore in Latin America. I don't see this any different than the dozens (probably 100s ?) of attacks we have committed during other administrations against Middle Eastern nations and etc.
